Suburb Spotlight: Beachside Living in Bronte

Wills Property’s suburb spotlight series visits the most in-demand areas of sunny Sydney and examines the allure of these neighbourhoods. Today, let’s take a closer look at the picturesque beachside haven of Bronte.

Where is Bronte?

Bronte sits right between Bondi and Coogee, giving you the best of both worlds but with more of a local feel. It’s seven kilometres east of Sydney’s CBD and within minutes of Centennial Park, Allianz Stadium and EQ at Moore Park. With its smaller and cosier beach, Bronte sits complete with its own leafy gully and beachside park.

Thanks to its hillside location, there are some spectacular coastal views to be found in Bronte. You’ll find a mixture of homes in the suburb area, from cute Federation-style cottages and family homes to contemporary apartments.

Who lives in Bronte?

There’s plenty of local character in Bronte. The demographic is a little older and calmer than the nearby Bondi, with a mix of mature homeowners and young families, couples and singles. You might spot a celeb or two amongst the regulars at the local café. Mostly, though, it’s friendly waves from neighbours, and regular swimmers each morning in the ocean pool at Bronte Beach.

Typical commute times from Bronte

Bronte residents can zip to the Sydney CBD with a quick change at Bondi Junction, or with a 20-minute drive to their city offices. They can also take their pick for beaches and parklands of a weekend here, venturing either north or south along the spectacular coastal pathway to visit Bondi and Coogee.

Local lifestyle features

You won’t find corporate offices or bustling cosmopolitan centres in Bronte, and that’s just the way the locals love it. There are some trendy cafés with great coffee, fish & chip shops and restaurants, and just one pre-school and primary school within the suburb. This keeps the atmosphere local and friendly. The beauty of Bronte is that nothing is far away. There’s the beautiful trickling of Bronte Gully, the turquoise Bronte Bogey Hole when the tide is right and the historic Bronte Surf Lifesaving Club, with an ocean swimming event held each December between Bondi Beach and Bronte Beach. There’s the buzz of the city and Bondi both within easy reach. And for the rest of the time, there’s the simplicity of sunshine, sand and sea.

Bronte properties have been highly prized for years, so you’ll be wise to snap up a home in this area to buy or to rent. If you happen to be selling in Bronte, you can find the right buyer by working with our team.
